Following are just some of
the dozens of interesting historical sites of interest in Bonaparte.
Come see for yourself!
1 Meek's Grist Mill – Built in 1878,
at a cost of $15,000, this is a well-preserved and
very fine example of a water-powered flour/grist mill once commonly
associated with riverside towns throughout much of the 19th
century. The original mill on this site was erected in 1844 by
William Meek. The mill, since 1977, has served home to the award-winning
Bonaparte Retreat Restaurant. See

125,000 gallons of pottery per year as well as drain pipe, flower pots
and fire proof bricks. Currently known as the "Old
Bonaparte Pottery", it is the only remaining pottery of it's kind
in Iowa and considered an archeological treasure. See
